What is a Comfort Human?
Updated: Jul 9
I'm often asked why I call what I do Comfort Human. It's pretty simple: Do a Google search for “What is a comfort dog?” The results? Betting you saw a lot of matches, including a link to a government report explaining the need for them and how “they can be a source of relief in rapidly changing environments and situations” and “offer a calming presence and a welcome distraction." Or maybe how comfort dogs and therapy dogs “provide affection, comfort, and love to people in hospitals, retirement homes, nursing homes, schools, hospices, disaster areas, and to people with anxiety disorders or autism.”
Now Google “What is a comfort human?” Betting you saw no results.
Why are dogs providing to humans what humans should be providing to one another?
