Amazon, Staples, and arts and crafts stores, such as Hobby Lobby or Michaels. They are the primary resources for printing bulk greeting cards and adding the fidget objects for Pen Palz initiative.

Donate Artwork or Touch-Therapy Items

The Pen Palz initiative can use your doodles, drawings, paintings, and so on as the basis for a greeting card, no matter your age or artistic skills! You can email us an image. Adding word messages to the artwork is great, too, such as “Have a nice day!” Here are just two examples of Pen Palz cards, which go out each month to various residents of memory care: St. Patrick’s Day and class project.

To donate touch-therapy items, anything that is flat-ish works great (like buttons, puffy stickers, rhinestones, and the like). Basically, anything that will adhere with glue or self-adhesive and can be sent out via snail-mail. Sensory stimulation can reduce agitation, provide a sense of calm, and even help with memory recall. Donations of these items can be sent to the mailing address above, or you can do it through Smile.Amazon.Com.

Donate a Toy Baby Doll

Send a toy baby doll to someone with Alzheimer’s/dementia! Comfort Dolls Program is the initiative Comfort Human started during quarantine, and when there’s funding to buy more dolls, it will continue. The goal is to get at least one doll into every memory care facility in the U.S.! For ideas about what kind of doll you can send to someone, or if you’d like to help the Comfort Dolls Program by donating dolls, funding, or gift certificates, contact us. To donate a doll on your own to a memory care, just look for ones that are baby size and without too many small parts that will get lost (such as a bottle). Washable ones are helpful, too.
